5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Good Read, Bad Quality By Patrick Johnson As a Jaws fan, and more specifically, a Jaws ride fan, I was eagerly anticipating this book. It provided a lot of good information and made me miss the ride even more.Most of the time, however, it was written a little too much like a high school essay. There were some odd moments of the author's negative personal feelings that read differently from the tone in the rest of the book. Above it all, this book really could have benefited from being proofread. Lots of incorrect or missing punctuation and even notes directed to the author (e.g., "expand. Mention Twister) made it into the published copy. For a book that was $20+, I just expected better quality. Nevertheless, it will sit proudly on my shelf of Jaws memorabilia.
2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Great book By Chelsea Archer The Book as a whole is pretty fantastic. Living in California I only just discovered this ride was once real. I've been reading tons of articles and watching videos learning all about the ride. I was randomly on Instagram and found this book. I was so freaking excited I ordered it as a birthday gift to myself.I'm not really into reading but blew through this book quickly. It started off a little slow but I liked the brief background it provided on the Universal Studios Hollywood Jaws. Once it got into the ride history at Orlando it really picked up. I enjoyed that it gave a quick walkthrough of the ride in general followed by a break down of different aspects of the ride. The Boats, The Tour Guides, The Sharks, etc. Each time it would give a breakdown of an aspect it gave me a sense of the ride functioning as a whole because I already had an overview. It also talked about it's final days which made me feel like it went out with a bang.The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because of the pictures. When I checked out the instagram for the book it has these great photos in color. I fully expected this in the book but felt a little let down that they were in black and white because I couldn't find that anywhere in the description.But overall it was a great read that really gave me a feel for the ride. I'm a little sad I'll never get to experience it in Orlando. You never know maybe one day I'll go to Japan.

Keegan As a former Orlando theme park employee (in this case the mouse), I am still mystified by these attractions and how they operate. The Jaws ride has long been one of my favorite rides since I was a child, the moment I saw a book was written on the topic I had to read it. The author, Mick Jones (not to be confused with the guitarists from the Clash or Foreigner), clearly loves the ride. Unfortunately, I'm not quite sure why he does. Outside of a blurry picture from a visit in 1990, he provides no backstory as to why he shares an affinity for the ride with the reader. I'm not sure if he's a former Universal Team Member, or a fan, or both. In any case, it's very clear that he loves the ride and has likely experienced it many times over. What this book provides is an excellent description of the ride, as well as the themed queue and the Amity area of Universal. Unfortunately, it provides very little technical details of how the ride functions. It also uses black and white photos which are of poor quality and are not captioned. When describing the counterparts to the Orlando ride (Universal Hollywood and Japan), the book skims over these attractions with blurbs. More attention seems to have been focused on the commercials that played in the old queue video. As noted in other reviews there are extensive grammatical mistakes, as well as editors remarks that for some reason weren't removed prior to printing. Some of the views towards the attraction that replaced JAWS are completely biased and lacking in any evidence. Mick Jones clearly loved and continues to love the JAWS ride, I just wish this work was a bit more complete and thorough. Worth renting from the library or picking up a used copy.
