The long awaited sequel to 'Hitchhiking with Larry David,'(Gotham/Penguin) Paul Samuel Dolman returns to Martha's Vineyard with his beloved Miracle to find a little wisdom, eat some pizza and converse with Larry. Paul captures the flavor and feel of the island summer, while running into many of the lovable characters from book one. Paul's wit, intelligence, and beautiful view of the world are all contained in this terrific read, and I believe it will inspire many to think about the potential everyone's thumb has to take them places beyond the complacent.

" I was amazed at the depths of his writing talents By Natalia It's rare to find a book that is so genuinely honest and raw, and at the same time so profoundly spiritual. After following Paul's journey from "Hitchhiking with Larry David," I was amazed at the depths of his writing talents. The book has allowed me to sort through personal questions. Infused with the author's wonderful sense of humor, Martha's Vineyard Miracles will leave you wanting more: to read more, to think more, to love and forgive more.

By Alex Wolfie The quotation "The best things in life come in threes, like friends, dreams, and memories," attributed to the Chinese philosopher Mencius, is a perfect description for Paul Samuel Dolman's second book, Martha's Vineyard Miracles ("MVM"). As a sequel to the touching and engaging "Hitchhiking with Larry David" ("HHLD"), "Miracles" captures the spirit that made Mr. Dolman's first book so popular, namely that if we open ourselves to experience, we can find moments of beauty, love, friendship, human and spiritual connection around us. But like any great sequel, Mr. Dolman takes the reader in MVM on a much deeper journey, where our hero must also deal with the sad and humbling realization that as much as he wants his romance with the Miracle to succeed, it cannot (through no fault of his own). Like another terrific sequel, Godfather 2, MVM takes us back in time, to the days of the writing of HHLD and Mr. Dolman's joy at how successful and popular his book is. But, in the midst of realizing his publishing dreams, he confronts the demons of his beloved, of the "key that sort of fits but doesn't [completely] work [to open the door.]" Anyone who has struggled to understand why a relationship won't succeed despite doing everything in his or her power will sympathize with the heavenly calms and crazy storms of Mr. Dolman's relationship with the Miracle. In getting this glimpse into the past, like how Vito Corleone became the Godfather, we understand how and where Mr. Dolman came from and where he is today. Along the way of the marvelous MVM, we get all the wonderful examples of "synchronicity," coincidence and circumstance, reconciliation with family as well as honest insights into what drives "successful" people with a good bit of social satire about Martha's Vineyard, Wall Street and Hollywood thrown in. As readers, we come to the end of MVM with expectation for the next book in the trilogy, to see how our hero moves on from the Miracle and what great adventures await him. All of MVM is filled with the same sense of wonder and lightness that made his first book so easy and fun to read. So, as they said it "Scary Movie 3," if "All great trilogies come in threes," bravo to Mr. Dolman for Episode 2 in his "Miracles" saga. I loved MVM and can't wait for Number 3!

Oddo For 30 years, my favorite book was "Blue Highways," by William Least Heat Moon. He was a somewhat lost soul, and his decision to travel the country through its "blue highways" on the map was to give some direction to his life. That is, until I read Paul Dolman's brilliant and moving debut book, "Hitchhiking With Larry David."That book became my cherished favorite; it was so uplifting. I've re-read it twice...most likely to kill time waiting for Paul to write his follow-up novel. His eagerly-anticipated "Martha's Vineyard Miracles" does not disappoint. I just finished reading it, and both of his books are #1 and #1a on my all-time favorite books to read. "Hitchhiking With Larry David" was funny, insightful, positive and thoughtful...as you read it, you feel like you've been transported to the Vineyard and get to share Paul's journey, both physically (as he travels Martha's Vineyard and encounters and engages friends, family, strangers and a few celebrities). I did not know what to expect with Paul's second book, but he's such a keen observer and deep thinker, I knew I would love it, even if it contained nothing but the daily weather reports for Martha's Vineyard. He would find a way to make even that compelling and engrossing.I will not go into the details of the book, but I will tell you that the book did not disappoint. He tackles some serious subject matter, but he blends it with his trademark optimism and positivity. He bares his soul on the page, revealing his feelings not just to the reader, but to the people in the book (his friends, family, strangers and, of course, the girl who is "The Miracle" in both books, though she plays a major part in this book). He goes through some difficult times, but I came away admiring his inner strength...as well as the courage to share this story with the world.Paul is a gifted writer; he writes honestly and tackles the difficult topics and difficult people with kindness and tenderness. The stories he tells, the feelings he shares and the lessons he (and the reader) learns through his life journeys are inspiring. By the time you put the book down, you feel like you've been hitchhiking with him and personally sharing his ups, downs and profound thoughts that are so beautifully expressed page after page. I cannot recommend both books enough! If his two books are any indication, we all should have a thoughtful friend like Paul Dolman; he shares his life in a way that will give our own hitchhiking journeys through life a clearer sense of direction and a more positive purpose.
