Juliet Weston moves to Malibu for a fresh start and with the belief that her chance at love is over. Love story with melancholy undertones By Pixie Mom The second story of the Billionaire's Beach Books is about Juliet, the third sister resulting from the same sperm donor as Nikki and Cassandra. Juliet is the widow of a highly respected military General, who was considerably older than herself. Juliet was happy as the wife of the General, despite the public's opinion that his marriage to her ruined his chances of becoming a presidential candidate. Noah is the aide/assistant to the General in the last portion of his life and attended to the General as he was dying from cancer. Noah is clearly in love with Juliet, but her guilt over seemingly ruining the general's life by marrying him has clouded her ability to see Noah as anything other than her husband's aide. In fact she has retreated into a meek "beige" version of herself as a coping mechanism against the public scorn and derision she gets from just about everyone else, including her stepdaughter, Marlys.Once Nikki and Cassandra get hold of Juliet, they help her bring out her real personality, her emotions and she begins to see Noah as an attractive man, even though he is younger than herself (by two years). As the romance with Noah heats up, the stepdaughter's nastiness increases causing even more friction between Juliet and Noah. There is a side storyline about Marlys and a military buddy of Noah's that really doesn't go anywhere, except to paint Marlys as a nasty witch. And Ms Ridgway throws in some teasers about the third book about Cassandra and Gabe.Missing from this book is the witty dialogue that made the first Beach Billionaires book so much fun. Juliet seems to be suffering from depression, Marlys is mean, and Noah seems too good to be true. On the other hand, it did have some heartwarming moments along with some very sensual scenes. Overall a good book, just not as much fun as the first.

It took me until mid-way through the third chapter to even figure out that Juliet was a grieving widow, and why? And when she came home and found a naked man in her pool, she acted like she didn't even know who he was, and yet, he had been around for years while caring for her sick husband. I found that really, really odd. There was a lot of the inner thought process going on in both of their heads all through the book, and they weren't even complete thoughts, at that!I have read books by this author before and enjoyed her humor and quirkiness, but not this time. I will continue to read her books in the future, though, because she normally does a fantastic job. IMO- I don't know why, but something just felt a bit off with this one.

Enjoyable quick read By Gloriamarie Amalfitano The blurb: "Young widow Juliet Weston finds solace—and friendship—at beachside knitting shop Malibu & Ewe. But closer to home, a longtime family friend and former soldier is the one who will help her discover just how to knit two hearts together."So here we are back on Billionaire’s Beach. Fortunately this book in the series does not feature an actual billionaire which was a relief to me.Our Heroine is an angst-filled woman. Our Hero is, well, heroic. He’s a warrior, after all. I love how we meet him, swimming naked in her pool. Something happens and he races into her kitchen, naked and dripping wet. He covers himself with an apron and we are left with Our Heroine’s delightful speculations about his naked backside. Oh yes, drool-worthy scene.Julie has a step-daughter with Issues. Frankly, the step-daughter was rather a caricature and not well-developed as a character. There is a lot of hanging out in a yarn shop which, as a knitter, I enjoyed. However, no one can knit as fast as these people, especially Cassandra. As new knitters, Nikki and Julie would have to be slower. While it seems as if Ridgway is familiar with the atmosphere of yarn shops, the speed of her knitters was unrealistic and that bothers me.There is an actress we met briefly in Take Me Tender (Billionaire’s Beach #1) who is nameless but is addressed as Oomfaa, an acronym, If I remember correctly for One Of Most Famous American Actresses.Julie has history to live down. She met her future husband when she was twelve and despite the fact that he was some thirty years older than she, married him ten years later. He was going to run for public office but his handlers said he couldn’t marry what would like a trophy wife. He decided life with Julie was more important than public office and all of his friends barely tolerated Julie as a result. His daughter, the brat, was very jealous of Julie. But the man died and Julie has escaped to Billionaire’s Beach to get on with her life. The story starts about eleven months after his death. She has known our hero for quite sometime because he was right-hand man and caregiver to her husband as he struggled with cancer. He came with her to the Beach because he had promised the husband he’d help her out. he was busy making sure the new house was all ship-shape.As a result they actually spent time in conversation, rather than their previous conversations which had been limited to the husband’s needs. Of course, sparks fly and it’s happily ever after. It’s a quick and easy read, quite enjoyable.
