Create Your Own Colorful Dress Pattern Book
Relax and lose yourself for hours as you color in the simple outlines for these dress patterns.
Coloring is an activity which has been associated for a long time with kids and it has been accepted that, as we mature, we put away our crayons or colored pencils and turn to more adult pursuits. In recent years however we have increasingly witnessed this wisdom being rejected and coloring for grown-ups has become a widespread activity.
But why has coloring for grown-ups become so popular? There are many explanations for the rapid growth in adult coloring, but here are just a few...
Coloring Relieves Stress And Anxiety
Psychiatrists have long recognized the fact that coloring relaxes the fear center of the brain and allows your mind to rest. Indeed, Carl Jung, the founder of analytical psychology, gave his patients mandalas to color over one hundred years ago. In the hectic world we inhabit today the stress relieving properties of coloring are perhaps more valuable than they have ever been.
Coloring Trains Your Mind To Focus
Remaining within the lines as you color a simple black and white line drawing requires focus and, while you are concentrating on this stress-free and relaxing activity, you can forget about your worries. Coloring is a mental exercise which allows you to put aside everything else for the time you spend coloring, and this is important in our increasingly hectic world.
Coloring Helps To Develop Motor Skills And Vision
Coloring forces the two sides of the brain to work together and involves both the use of logic (used for coloring forms) and creativity (as we mix and match colors). This, in turn, brings those areas of the brain responsible for vision and fine motor skills into play, and helps in keeping these active and in developing them further. It is this aspect of coloring which is being seen more and more as especially valuable for older individuals, as many professionals believe that it can delay, or even prevent, the onset of dementia.
Coloring Provides The Opportunity To Be Social
Although you might believe that coloring would be a solo activity, its growing popularity is rapidly turning it into a social one. Families, friends, colleagues and others are getting together to eat, drink and enjoy the chance to socialize, through their common interest in coloring. Without doubt, this is a wonderful excuse for getting together, as coloring requires only a minimum of concentration and can easily be done in a group setting.
Coloring Allows You To Express Yourself
When it comes to coloring there are no rules and your coloring book is just that - your coloring book. If you accidentally make the cat's rear leg green because you mistook it for part of the grass, who cares? Should you decide to make the sky pink, what does it matter? You may be as creative as you wish because this is your coloring book, and yours alone. When it comes to picking colors don't forget that the American artist James Whistler once famously said, "Mauve is just pink trying to be purple."
You may already be a convert to adult coloring, in which case you will appreciate its value. This may however be a new enterprise for you and one that you are contemplating for any one of several different reasons. If this is something new for you then I urge you to try it out. There is a reason why so many people are excited about the world of adult coloring, so jump on board and start to enjoy the benefits for yourself today.

By Angela Foy this book is all dresses as the cover says but the designs are amazing. there are some easier designs and some really difficult ones and lots of stuff in between. With so many patterns, you can do one a day--if you have the time and not repeat for two months--there are that many different ones. I will be printing a couple out today. Just have to decide which ones and that is the hard part.

I like the mandalas on the dresses as they vary in the styles and are fun patterns to work with. I am disappointed that the dresses are all the same shape...exactly the same dress. It would be akin to making the same dress many times over but with different fabric. I suppose I thought that there would be many different styles of dresses and patterns.
