I actually got these singularly first when they were free in the amazon.co.uk 100 free bestseller lists. If I had paid for them I might have felt a bit 'short-changed' as some books at the same price can be three or four hundred pages long. These books are only about a hundred pages long. It was a good read though. I was unsure at first-in the first part of the diary of an expectant father there were some moments where I felt a bit sick reading it-and yes- I have been through pregnancy and birth-there were just some yakky moments. Also-who in their right mind does a pregnancy test in a photo booth and just makes water in there? Why could they not wait until they got home and done it in their own bathroom in privacy. Maybe this was done for 'more comedy' but it just made me think about giving up on the book. After that the writing really flowed and changed character somewhat and I couldn't put it down to find out what happened next. Just when it's got going it ends, before you expect it to but all is not lost because the author has also written a follow up, which I also got when it was free so I started reading that straight after. This is a good read too. There are some comedy moments and also some deeper issues in the second book which really get your emotions going but this is all too brief. Yet again in the amazon free bestsellers-I found the two books in a kindle set and I think this works better as two in one go. Especially if you had been paying for the book/s also if you got the first one and didn't know about the second it would just seem to end in the middle of nowhere. So three stars for the single edition books but for the combined set-that deserves four stars. Well worth a read, especially if you want a quicker, easier read inbetween other longer books which are more heavy-going.

Excellent Books By Quaser I've reproduced my original reviews of these books below:****This is a review of The Diary Of An Expectant Father ****This is an excellent book. The protagonist of this book is Graham, a full-time career idiot, who meets a girl on a works night out. Despite his previous lack of success in his relationships with women (not surprising given some of his views and his very funny antics), he finds himself, albeit reluctantly, as the father to her child. At times funny, sad, full of pathos, remorse, understanding and fear, Graham faithfully records the events in his life right up to the moment of birth, as though his diary was being read by aliens at some point in the future. This, as much as anything else in the book, points to his obvious immaturity. In some senses this book epitomises all that is wrong with society today, unexpected sex leading to a relationship and a baby, rather than the relationship leading the way. But for all that, it is a funny, interesting (and quite short) read. Can't wait for the next in the series.5 stars.****This is a review of The Diary Of A Hapless Father: months 0-3 by Pete Sortwell****This is an excellent book, and is the follow up to The Diary Of An Expectant FatherLike it's predecessor, this is a well-crafted story, bringing to life the characters, telling the story through the eyes of our hero Graham, as he begins coming to terms with the birth of his son, Charlie.I found this book to be ever so slightly less funny that the previous one, but it does deal, often in excruciating detail, with the trials and tribulations of having a new-born child to look after. It is, by turns, full of joy, tiredness, happiness, tiredness, pathos, and tiredness The story accurately depicts the life-changing effects that fatherhood bring. The book ends on a cliffhanger, so hopefully there witll be a third in the series in the not too distant future.5 stars (again).

Thought provoking By Lively Thought provokingThe Diary of An Expectant FatherVictor meldrew eat your heart out.this is definitely meldrew at a younger age , would make a good sitcom he is full of fear and paranoia, moans like a good one , would make anyone make sure their contraception is up to speed:). It will be interesting to see how he copes in the following months a book I will be buying to see if the moaning fart has mellowed lol. A must read. The Diary Of A Hapless Father: Months 0-3Portrayal of one mans struggle with the early months of becoming a father. Filled with the trials and fears of having a new life to care for. Some humorous moments but also has a serious message. I've read the first book and enjoyed that and was not disappointed with this sequel looking forward to the next one.
