This book is very beginner friendly and it is such a small adjustment of skills from beginner to a pro. It explains how lighting, color works etc. which will increase your knowledge of photography and get to know your camera really well. You will also learn camera and photography lingo.I highly recommend this book of you are looking to improve your photography skills.

Shine Not Burn (3 Stars) By Endless Reads I enjoy a good "cowboy" book every once in awhile, and after reading the premise for Shine Not Burn I thought I might have a winner on my hands. And while this books is definitely not the winner I was hoping it was, it was completely awful either.Shine Not Burn is about Andie and Gavin; two people who meet in Vegas, have insane chemistry, get drunk, and end up getting married. Problem number one is that Andie was so drunk she barely remembers Gavin, and definitely doesn't remember marrying him. So what does she do? Leave Vegas and never talks to Gavin again. Fast forward a few years later when she goes to get a marriage license only to find out she is already married.Now, I am all for a good romance. And by that I mean, romances aren't always to best books ever written. There is usually a lot of issues with the book and the writing tends to be not so great, but I enjoy them and they make me happy. However Shine Not Burn lacked one fundamental romance rule...the main characters had very little involvement with each other. I was half way though the book and Andie had spent more time with his mother than him. How is that a good thing ever?I think Andie and Gavin's relationship should have been more of a focal point, since you know the book is about them. When Andie and Gavin were in the same scene all they were doing is having sex. I know the sexy bits are a big part of romance, but come on. Let the characters actually build a relationship that doesn't consist of taking their clothes off.There were some other issues I had with this book, including Andie being probably the dumbest "smart" person I've read in a while. A note to authors: When a character doesn't something that contradicts everything you said that character was about, it's not believable and it's usually very annoying.I've given Shine Not Burn three stars, and I think that might be me being a little generous. I did enjoy some parts of this book, but overall was kinda disappointed.

That fender bender in the parking lot. Some are much bigger. And life changing. That is if you remember them. Yeah sometimes you make mistakes you are not even aware of. This usually involves alcohol. Just ask any college student or Andie. Andie has a doosey of a Vegas Hangover.Andie has a plan. She has a carefully scripted design for her life. It's her way to make sure she is in control of her life, her path. It's a massive case of overcompensating. She has been following that plan until she hits the lights of Vegas for a bachelorette party one weekend.Mack is a hunky cowboy. Emphasis on HUNKY COWBOY. He is in Vegas for a bachelor party. They met at the Black Jack table and....Hello...fun times and rash decisions. (More about rash talk later) Oh...and some really steamy scenes. Really steamy.Mack and Andie don't walk away into the Vegas sunset together. There are memory lapses, time lapses and judgement lapses. What will happen when they are both in the same place at the same time again? I can't tell you all the details execpt those steamy scenes....yeah more of those. Naked tag in the meadow? I am just imagining the chigger bites. Ouchey. (told you there was more rash talk)Aside for the naked tag and tearing up the shower curtain, Andie is having a problem making a decision."My mind was spinning in so many different directions I didn't know wheather to laugh, cry, or eat fried calf testicles."Her friends try to give her advice."You're going with your heart and your vagina instead of your head for a change! Good for you!"Now that is some good advice right there. She should have her own talk show. Or blog. By I Heart YA Books WARNING: Due to uncontrollable laughter while reading SHINE NOT BURN, the reader may pee their pants.Yep, author Elle Casey really should post a warning for the reader before they dive into Andie and Mack's hilarious and swoon-worthy romance. I love this book, and I highly recommend it as a hilarious romance with steamy smexy scenes, and one of the most awesome couples I've read in long time! Definitely a must read!

I cannot evaluate the e-book, as 1 month after I bought it I was not given the access to the right book... The technical support was not able to fix this yet... It's really a shame as the book is the best reference in this subject and I intended to use it more in my iPad that the book itself.

7 of 9 people found the following review helpful. A True Biography of The Doors By Jym Cherry I was excited when I learned Gillian Gaar wrote “The Doors: The Illustrated History”. She wrote the excellent “Return of the King” about Elvis Presley’s 1968 ‘comeback’ special. Then I noticed it only 193 pages, and after Dylan Jones disastrous “Jim Morrison: Mr. Mojo”, which runs about the same amount of pages, I was very wary. Jim Morrison once said “comparisons are a shortcut for thinking” and it is true in this instance because the page count is the only thing “The Illustrated History” shares with “Funeral Pyre.” “The Doors: The Illustrated History” succeeds in bringing out information not only in a different way for fans, but also pulls some lesser known facts about The Doors out of the background noise of their story.“The Doors: The Illustrated History” first separates itself from other books by being a true biography of The Doors. Even though Jim Morrison’s legend casts a large shadow over The Doors’ career and legacy, Gaar presents it in perspective in terms of The Doors musical career and the other members of The Doors. “The Doors: The Illustrated History” is also full of information that before has been given short shrift such as Ray Manzarek giving Danny Sugerman a helping hand at editing “No One Here Get’s Out Alive”, John and Robby producing an album for the group Comfortable Chair, and she delves below the surface in commonly known Doors tales such as when Joan Didion attended some of the recording sessions for “Waiting for the Sun”. Gaar explores some of the reasons for the desultory behavior of The Doors witnessed by Didion. Gaar also provides objective critical appraisal where needed, such as in her discussion of the documentary “When You’re Strange.”The book winds up with a more thorough than usual round-up of what the other members of The Doors did after Jim Morrison’s death. Even though the synopses are short, they carry a lot of information and give you a fuller idea than most other books about what post-Morrison projects the other members of The Doors have been involved in.Critical appraisals of The Doors five Morrison era studio albums are provided by rock journalists as guest reviewers like Harvey Kubernik, Andrew Earles, Domenic Priore, Richie Unterberger, Bill Holdship and Stacey Levine. These one page commentaries not only provide a pocket critique but a glimpse as to what was going on in The Doors’ world during the recording of each album. 4 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Essential for any Doors fan By Lynette McClenaghan The Doors' story is often overwhelmed by the tragedy of Jim Morrison. Gillian Gaar's new book helps to redress this by objectively focusing on the band's story and on the music. Even when Morrison takes over the narrative it is never voyeuristic or judgmental, but honest. Additionally, she examines the immediate and long term post-Morrison careers of the band and its members. This latter story is as interesting and moving as the original band's history.The real treat for readers, as indicated by the book's striking cover, is the vast array of images: photos of the band, many of which are new to me, and of other memorabilia, effectively bringing back the atmosphere of those turbulent times, when rock music mattered and rock stars were at the centre of the rapid changes in culture and society. The quality of reproduction is excellent and the book is beautifully laid out; an object to treasure. Wait till you see the cover in your hands!An absolutely essential purchase for any Doors fan. You will love it.

The cover features the word "Doors" cut out and silver lined. A really nice feature. It feels heavy and luxurious.I grew up listening to the Doors and continue to keep them on my playlists. The photos are a wonderful historical record of the band and the graphics of the posters and tickets are a great look back on music ephemera. The book features other books by and about the Doors so my reading on the subject will continue on this subject. I will also look into more of their lesser known songs bases on the discography featured throughout.

Goldyne For any healthcare providers, especially dermatologists in practice or in training, who want a focused, well organized, very well illustrated text on clinical dermatology, this is a superb book. It's about the patient in the exam room, not the latest biochemistry insights that may apply to patient care 10 years from today. Most major dermatology texts focus on summarizing all that is known biochemically, molecularly, and physiologically about the over 750 dermatological conditions that are recognized with little time spent on outlining practical approaches to therapy for the major skin diseases that most practitioners will come across in their careers. This book, in contrast, focuses on making the visual diagnoses and on providing appropriate therapies for these skin diseases based on current practice. The excellent images and text data are presented in a format that facilitates locating the various aspects of the clinical experience including: 1) Basics, 2) Pathogenesis, 3) Clinical manifestations, 4) Diagnosis, 5) Differential diagnosis, 6) Management as well as 7) Helpful hints. The last category takes advantage of the authors depth of clinical experience to provide very insightful clinical pearls that help shape diagnostic or therapeutic decisions. In my 40 years experience as an academic and private practice dermatologist, and as a clinical teledermatologist for 20 years, I have interacted with many colleagues, primary care physicians, nurse-practitioners and physicians assistants. From my experiences, I would say that this book belongs on anyone's shelf or in their e-book collection if they interface at all with clinical dermatology.

0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. a "must buy" for derms in training and all non derm physicians By Steven E if you have any kids or friends going into derm ...this is the book to start them with ... each disease gets one or two pages with basically everything they need to know with absolutely fabulous photos that really nail the important aspects. every gp/internist/ob-gyn should have this around as it is easy to use and complete without being excessive! i'll be recommending this to all my 1st year residents and only wish they had this book available when i started derm ...but wait, there's more!yes it can be downloaded and you can get access to more pix and even pt handouts if you buy this!and just like the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, there's a really really important sentence right in the front of the book ..."what the mind does not know, the eyes cannot see" ....glom on that ...highest recommendationsteve emmet md derm for 40+ years :-) ...

About the Author Harry Balls is a full-time professional paranormal investigator. Harry is well known and respected by his colleagues at the Office of Paranormal Studies who often refer to his investigations and working practices in their private meetings. Details of these meetings cannot be published but quotes such as ‘an interesting example’, ‘unusual working practices’, ‘we recognise this is Harry's work’ and ‘this isn't how we tend to do things’ have been the source of much pride for Harry. He has a small team of part-time minimum-wage assistants who work for him under the name Harry Balls Hunters and Investigators. Due to the sensitive nature of their work and the high turn-around of staff, they have all chosen to remain anonymous. Therefore the investigations you are about to read will simply refer to 'we' and 'us' to note that there was someone with him at the time who has now left his employment. The names have also been removed due to several complaints from former employees such as ‘unsafe working conditions’, ‘unreasonable and volatile employer’ and ‘lack of payment’; these complaints are currently ongoing. Harry operates throughout the country responding to reported incidents of paranormal activity and explaining them in a professional, concise and impartial way. The majority of reports come to Harry Balls Hunters and Investigators via their website and social media presence, (the website is currently unavailable due to complaints raised by certain members of the Office of Paranormal Studies). Despite having no formal qualifications, public liability insurance or specific equipment, Harry prides himself on his work ethic and ‘getting the job done’ and has one of the highest success rates of any paranormal investigators. Harry's notable TV appearances include: audience member on Strike It Lucky; guest on Trisha (never broadcast); phone-in caller on This Morning and questioner on Question Time.
