About the Author Kimberly "Kimba" Dalferes is a native Floridian who currently pretends to be a Virginian. She is an accomplished king salmon slayer, estate sale junkie, and sometimes writes books. Her first book, "I Was In Love With a Short Man Once", was published in 2011. Dalferes' essays have been featured in diverse publications, including "Voices from Smith Mountain Lake" (an anthology published in 2013 by the Smith Mountain Arts Council), The Roanoke Times, Hippocampus Magazine, Better After 50, Laugh Lines: Finding Your Funny, Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop, BONBON Break, and Midlife Boulevard. Her humor column, Dock Tale Hour, appears in each issue of the bimonthly Smith Mountain Laker Magazine. She's also had a limerick published in The Washington Post, which she emphatically claims as a legitimate publication cred.The author happily serves on the Board of Governors for the Virginia Writers Club (VWC). She has been recognized for her nonfiction writing as winner of the 2014 Golden Nib Award, VWC's highest honor.Dalferes divides her time between Fairfax and Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia, with husband Greg, Bonz the cat, and occasionally son Jimmy, when he is home from college. She also can be found on a regular basis hanging out in The Middle-Aged Cheap Seats--her blog. She continues to sing hopelessly off key and waits patiently for that phone call from George Clooney.

Lumpkin No book has made me giggle, laugh out loud, ponder situations and just plain enjoy the written word more than Magic Fishing Panties. Kim Dalferes has put on paper hilarious, and in a couple of cases, touching scenes from her life. She does a masterful job of weaving reality into comical and embarrassing (to her) situations. (She was caught naked in public on not once but on two occasions.) She is able to capture the essence of a southern girl who seems, in spite of herself, able to grasp near disaster from the jaws of success. Her episodes from Roman Cokes, empty nester, impersonating Dolly Parton and of course fishing, will have the reader doubled over in hysterical laughter. And without giving too much away, there are hundreds of wonderful southern quotes, like “If it ain’t the heat it’s the humility.”Chuck Lumpkin, President Lake Writers

The good, the bad, the funny stuff of life By KLM Lemme just say right now, these essays are snapshots of a life lived without fear, and often without clothes. I expected to laugh a little, and instead got snot-blowing snorts and many more moments of authentic realism of a woman tackling larger issues of our great big world. Yes, the world needs more Virgos (doers, not watchers) and the reading world most definitely needs more from Dalferes.

Lucky us to have the opportunity to relive them and enjoy the humor that life gives us everyday.... A feel good, I can do anything sorta book reminding me I really shouldn't take life so seriously.... We all should own a pair of Magic Fishing Panties and just smile....
