Funny, touching, sad, with a light of hope at the end of the tunnel There are thousands of working actors in this country and only a handful will ever make it as rich and famous International Stars. This story is not about one of the handful. This is the tragicomedy memoir of a Stage and Television star of the 70’s and 80’s who is forced to abandon his career when his beloved wife, Marie, suffers a massive stroke which leaves her physically disabled. As her full time carer and with approaching old age he reviews their life together and resorts to his sense of humor and writing to enable him to cope with the restrictions of his new found, unexpected way of life and to satisfy his driving creative inclinations. The story reveals the author's comic reaction to his career and encroaching old age intertwined with a touching love story that eventually questions his spiritual beliefs and makes him into the man he has become. As he says, “Not a trip for the faint hearted.”

A Light at the End: A very unusual theatrical memoir, by Bryon Williams

About the Author Bryon Williams, ex-stage and television actor, script writer, producer, director, and recently turned novelist, is now settled on the beautiful Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia. Two of his previous novels, The Grumpy Old Withered of Oz, a comedic, semi-autobiographical book about the frustrations of ageing and life as his wife’s carer in the not-so-fast lane of the Zzzzzzzzz Generation, and The Twilight Escort Agency, an hilarious and bawdy account of a mythical escort agency for the ‘more mature’ client, have enjoyed very positive independent reader response, as has his third novel, the whimsical comedy crime-fantasy, ideal for cat lovers, Code Name: Millicent – The Cat Intelligence Agent Who Came Out of the Cold. The Tourist from the Light, an intriguing paranormal romance with an underlying theme of a thought- provoking alternative spiritual philosophy, followed. His fifth novel, The Burning Boy, is an exciting action/crime page turner based on the horrors that haunt an ex-Vietnam War cameraman who returns to Australia in the mid seventies and becomes inadvertently involved in a sophisticated and lethal people-smuggling racket. Bryon then turned to a murder mystery with a difference in his, The Reluctant Psychic, and, The Psychic Spy. With the heart breaking loss of his wife he has now penned his autobiographical memoir, the tragicomedy, A Light at the End.

By Amazon Customer I highly recommend this book to everyone! Although I don't know Bryon, personally; I was captivated, highly entertained and touched very deeply by his personal and theatrical journey. A journey that focuses on his fascinating life as an actor in both theatre and television, and best of all, Bryon's amazing relationship with his wonderful wife, Marie. As Marie and Bryon, together, face a profound life change and challenge, Bryon takes us along with them in a very intimate, sad, and at times very funny way. This book touched my heart, my funny bone, and above all it gave me such respect for Bryon and his wife, Marie. Encompassing the universal themes of love, laughter, life and death, this book is a jewel that ought not be missed.

It is much more than a witty; often laugh out loud, comedy... though it is that too. There is dark humour and acerbic wit about ...well about most of the things we all deal with in life. It touches on everything from Climate change to single ply toilet paper... but just when you're giggling in reluctant agreement, there is suddenly a heart stopping catch in the breath as the love in this book touches us. 'A light at The End' is filled with both discovery and question about reincarnation and other lives and about contact from beyond this life It is funny and witty and poignant ...but most of all... absolutely most of all, this is a love story. These are not 'star crossed lovers'. Shakespeare never allowed his lovers to be together. These two, Bryon and his so loved wife Marie, are more like star blessed lovers, for in spite of Maries stroke and the following years of 'making life work' when it seemed sometimes so impossible... in spite of the fact that Bryon was the one... the only one who looked after and nurtured his beloved wife... I was left with the feeling that this is a love alive through time... not stopped by death or loss... still there now... still filled with wonder... waiting for the next birth for the beauty to bloom again. This is a book that reaffirms belief in eternal love. It is filled with belief and hope and humour is equal measure. Reading it lifted my spirits at seeing what is possible... what may, with luck, be the kind of love we all have one day... if not in this birth than in the future.Read it... you'll love it.

This is a truly inspiring book, Byron takes us on a journey through his beginning in the world of a theatre and television but inter woven is the story of his relationship with his love Marie and how their live and devotion for each other carries them though a life changing event. At times it is so sad but at others I found myself laughing out loud as I read Bryons Observations on the more mundane aspects of modern life.To my surprise I found Byrons belief in the afterlife and the Paranormal are exactly the same as mine - a kindred spirit I think. Please read this book it is so up lifting and is a testament to true love between Soulmates.
