About the Author Richard Corman has been capturing poignant moments of human triumph for over three decades. While his work varies widely in style and subject matter, it’s always intensely focused on the human spirit. ROLLING STONE refers to his photographs as “iconic.” Documentarian Ken Burns says Corman’s versatile body of work is an “artistic vision dedicated to the highest aspirations of human endeavor . . . the photographs record in big moments and small, among the famous and ordinary, the gifted and challenged, larger truths relevant to all of us.” As a portrait photographer, Corman has worked with a thrilling breadth of subjects from Nobel Peace Prize recipients Nelson Mandela and Elie Wiesel to esteemed actors such as Robert De Niro, Meryl Streep and Daniel Craig. He’s also worked with elite athletes who inspire greatness, like Muhammad Ali and Michael Jordan, as well as with writers and artists who have left an indelible mark including Kurt Vonnegut, Basquiat, and Naguchi. Ms. Bradley began her studies at the school of the Atlanta Ballet Company. Later she studied with New York City Ballet’s School of American Ballet. She joined the Virginia Ballet Company, under the direction of Oleg Tupine; the Louisville Ballet Company, under the direction of Richard Munro; the San Diego Ballet Company, under the direction of Keith Martin; and the North San Diego County Ballet, under the direction of Victor Moreno. As well as choreographing many original works, she has staged The Nutcracker, Coppelia, and Swan Lake. Ms. Bradley cofounded Jetsetter Productions in 2005 and created Shag With a Twist with world-renowned artist Josh Agle aka Shag. The dance musical premiered at the Los Angeles Theatre Center and won an Ovation award for best costume design, was nominated for eight Lester Horton Awards, and had an extended run in Las Vegas in 2007.

Pfeiffer I bought the book for my granddaughter who dances, giggles and rolls on the floor, so that one day she too may rock the stars.This inexpensive book will inspire youngsters to do their own thing while seeking a pathway to their own success. The empowering quotes of Misty Copeland resonate with the wonderful photos of Misty dancing in a studio and on an old piano. You can see that she is having the time of her life. The introduction by Misty’s first ballet instructor put a lump in my throat.

The photos and quotes do a wonderful job capturing and illustrating Misty's strong yet graceful being. I definitely recommend it to all readers, especially young women. Misty is an amazing role model.

I've never had a book that's perfect for my coffee table before By Alyssa I've never had a book that's perfect for my coffee table before, not until now. Most folks have books of European countries or photos of fantastic dinners and hors d' oeuvres. Me, I now have the lovely Misty Copeland. This young lady, used to play basketball and dance at the Boys and Girls Club- having fun just being a kid. But her teacher saw something special in her and managed to get her a scholarship. Four years later, she was the first African-American female principal dance for the American Ballet Theatre. Richard Corman's book, Misty Copeland: Power and Grace shows the magic of the blessings she was given and the opportunity to become what many "little brown girls" only dream of! The photos show litheness, symmetry, and inventiveness. She's not only beautiful but what she does with her body and those magical feet is beyond dance. This more of a picture book than a novella or novel, but it's one that your table will crave! I'm so happy to have received such a lovely book!
