About the Author Sheila Simmons is a freelance writer and public relations consultant who lives in Philadelphia. She began her professional writing career as a newspaper business reporter, and later covered government, education, and arts and entertainment. Her work has appeared in newspapers in Philadelphia, Cleveland, Providence, R.I., and Raleigh and Asheville, N.C. She is a native of Asheville, and holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is the mother of a son.

What a woman, what a life, what a touching tribute to a musical angel to so many! I thought the pacing was great. The author kept me interested with all the twists and turns in her passionate pursuit of Minnie memories. And along the way, I feel like I got to know, and go behind-the-scenes into the private lives of the author and her family. I wouldn't say they were exposed, more that they were gently illuminated. Really nice work. I am sending my copy off to a dear friend, another Minnie Riperton fan, who I'm sure will love this sweet love letter to Minnie even more than I did! I bought the book at a signing in Philadelphia and I'm posting a picture of me and the author, Sheila A. Simmons, who is radiant behind a bunch of Baby's Breath, Minnie's favorite flower.

By Cheryl Woodruff Sheila Simmons took an honest journey into the life if an extraordinary vocalist destined for greatness. Simmons shares Minnie's story through the eyes of her family, friends, peers in the music business. Simmons shares the struggles, strength, and courage if Riperton as she pursues her passion.

By CF This Memoir of Minnie Riperton by Shiela Simmons is a moving, and well researched illustration of a female vocalist who left her vocal mark on many. I for one loved her vocal syle. Thank's Shiela for your contribution to her musical legacy. Good job
