About the Author
R. C. Cline is retired. He is trained historian and writer. His wife says he is a gifted Irish story teller. He writes both poetry and prose.
In a previous life he counseled students in a comprehensive high school in Riverside, California.
He lives a comtemplative life with his wife in a small college town in Southern California. He collects, reads, writes and enjoys fly fishing.
You may find him on a quiet stream or in the white water rapids of Northern California, Oregon or Idaho.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I was disappointed in the writing itself By Zoe Ann Brown This book was written about a boy/young man with whom I grew up in Bloomville, Ohio. I had no idea of his wartime experiences and was enlightened by reading of Emy's time in the Air Force. I was disappointed in the writing itself, and was surprised that an editor or proof-reader would miss catching the errors. There obviously were many sources of information to sift through (diaries, letters, etc.) and it is possible the author was overwhelmed with the task of doing this; however, this is where the editor should have stepped in. Overall, it is a very informative look at the gruesome task of an Air Force Gunner. Thank you for making it possible for younger generations to have a glimpse into what it cost our country to win World War II.

Smith Very awkwardly written and arranged book. Nice info, but stories and descriptions are repeated numerous times. Almost seems like raw historical data was just entered into a book. Does not flow well. You can tell the author is passionate and put his heart into it, especially if you read the lengthly description at the end of the author's methods, but whew! A bit too much detail repeated too much. It must describe, for instance the extra oxygen tanks in the plane, how cold it was at high altitudes, what they wore, etc., about 4 times in the book. If all 4 diaries you researched described something, just give us a composite of all the best descriptions into one and tell the story once really well, rather than having us read it 3 or 4 times. Also lacks proofreading as I found grammar, punctuation, spelling errors on about every 2nd or 3rd page. Valuable and informative, a story that needs to be told, but frankly needs a re-write.
