Excellent for intermediates By Peter Flom Competitive bidding is tricky, especially for intermediates (like me) and this is the audience that this book is aimed at. If you have just started playing, this book will be beyond you for a while. If you are an expert with a dedicated and established partnership (or two or three) then you might still learn something, but you're not the main audience. There's a vast majority of duplicate players who are in neither of these groups.Mike Lawrence doesn't tell funny stories (Iike, say, Marty Bergen), he doesn't tell jokes (like Eddie Kantar) he doesn't have the writing style of, say, Terrence Reese. But he's got the same bridge expertise as all of those writers and he provides lots and lots and lots of advice for the money.

The meditations have pauses that are too long for me, though. Listening to the introduction instantly brings sense of calm and enlightenment as Mr. Young dissects the emotional process by which humans become overwhelmed, and he offers steps to avoid that. I highly recommend this to anyone who is struggling with anxiety or anger.

Flow with life By david dewulf Excellent.If you can reach the heart of this practice ( and this happens very quickly if you ve experience wih meditation ) you can transform negative emotions in seconds,on the spot.You keep the energy of the emotion,but you discard the negative charge.The energy allows you to flow with the circumstances and to act with respect towards others.The only secret is: doing it.

He is able to move a person into the present and let the flow of awareness happen. Dr. Young's way of meditating on the experiences can change "so called" negative emotions into an awareness of the world dancing by. My only restriction was my own inablilty to trust the moment.

Most reccomended book on psychoanalysis By Beehaz It is hard to describe this as an introductory text to the concepts of Freud and Lacan, or as its own exposition of new ideas, probably more of the former, but it serves both purposes equally well. For the beginner like me, it was great to understand the philosophical underpinnings of Freud, gradually showing how Lacan elucidated certain controversial Freudian concepts and thus fully appreciating their impacts on subjectivity. Like Lacan once said, "I'm a Freudian, I leave it up to you to be Lacanians," this book's primary focus is showing the full depth of Freud, with Lacan chiming in. To do this, Boothby sticks to his strong background in phenomenology where Freud and Lacan-oustide of the introduction-are hardly even mentioned until about 30-40 pages in. This is what makes the book interesting and unlike any other intro text on Lacan (if that's what you want to call it), because the big Lacanian terminology (imaginary, symbolic, real) are not merely thrown around from the beginning assuming reader understanding. Rather, by the time Boothby approaches the term 'imaginary,' you've had many pages before explaining all of it's perceptual underpinnings, philosophic origins in Freud, as well as interwoven clinical examples. Definitely worth a read.

Written with exemplary clarity By German Reader Boothby does two things: he interprets Freud (through Lacan) and clarifies at the same time key-concepts of Lacan's philosophy. The book is lucidly argued and shows a pedagogical skill of the author.I have read several introductions to Lacan but this one is by far the best and will hopefully be called a "classic" one day.

Jacob is definitely one of those for me. I loved this book from beginning to end. The nail-biting intensity resonates from Michaels' novel. It was more than obvious the author did their research, or perhaps had some insider experience, as this was one of the most well-written works I have had the pleasure of reading in many months. My only regret is that I have to wait for the next installment.Victoria and Jacob captivated me as a couple, but equally as important to this Ink Angel, I truly appreciate a story in which the heroine/protagonist is a smart cookie who can handle herself. Tori exudes style, class and enough intelligence to put most men in her position to shame. Her resilience and triumph through her hellish experiences gave me chills and if Jacob offers even a taste at what is yet to come in the Kings of Guardians series then I will be on pins and needles until the release of Book #2.I am sorry to say that five stars is all I can give to Jacob. This book is worth so many more. The Kings of Guardians are a team of elite men you do NOT want to miss!

Really well executed!The writing is pretty good for a first book of an author and it reads easily, even when things I had no clue over were thrown in. The characters are all very well developed; Tori is a great heroine and Jacob...*pause for breath*...he is WOW! The steamy scenes are hot, but I craved a little sizzle. I saw people shelving it as BDSM and I think my mind has been corrupted, because I didn't really read any of it, maybe light BDSM, but sparkle, not arsonist.With that said, the sudden sexual attraction was a little odd for me, the 'relationship' (if you will) just seemed more platonic and then suddenly they are talking about having sex. I had to do a double take on reading what had happened, as it truly seemed just too strange. Maybe I missed that changeover, but I guess intense past situations brings urges to feel that you are alive. 'Normal relationship' things throughout also happen a little too quickly in my opinion and why it likely fits with the book makes sense, I don't feel like it works with the characters and all we are initially told.With the beginning being so exciting, I became bored to be honest. So much so I stopped reading it for a long while and then came back. It got a little better in the last few chapters, but it fell short. Without giving too much away, the mission in the end I think would have redeemed it. I wanted to read the retrieval, as it would've made a nice circle with what you began reading and the edginess would have been brought back.My personal opinions and morals over certain aspects of the book made me dislike parts of it. With that said, I still want to read more of this series, hoping they would redeem themselves, as the concept is great. I think the author does have a great voice and I would definitely read more of her work, because it can only get better.

13 of 15 people found the following review helpful. Hmm By Piper7805 This book starts out strong with a strong kickass heroine. It wants to be in the Suzanne Brockmann M L Buchmann vertical, imo. Only problem with that is that it quickly loses both its intensity and the readers interest. The heroine, who was supposedly a CIA operative, giggles every other page. Giggles! She becomes just annoying. Any book that wants to reference a specific theme whether military or bikers or police needs to nail that down with research and fact checking to make it plausible. There were majors in the navy and other obvious clues to the lack of research done by the author.This is not a stay up all night read, but one that, if you make it through, will last several days because it just isn't written well enough to keep the reader interested. Plus a grown woman giggling all the time gets really really annoying.

It contains all the strips from the final year (Jan. 1, 1999 to Feb. 13, 2000), and it's great to have it all in one book. And my copy contains the actual final strip published the weekend Charles Schulz died. He may have left us, but books like this one prove that we can revisit Charlie Brown, Snoopy and their pals any time we want. Thank you, Mr. Schulz.

16 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Happiness is another Peanuts book. Even if it's the Last One By Barry Pearl It was with great sadness that I read the final Peanuts strips. The strips were fantastic and funny as always. But I did know that this was the end.Charlie Brown would never get another chance to kick the football or win a baseball game. His love would go unrequited, as it had for 50 years. Charlie Brown reminds us, "The inside of a mailbox should always be kept clean in case you get a love letter." But he received no valentines this year either. Marcia and Peppermint Patty never got a chance to tell them how they felt. I don't know if Snoopy ever got to Bill Maudlin's house on Veteran's Day either. But if Charles Schultz were still here, would they eventually be successful? As Charlie Brown once said, "Never stay awake at night asking yourself questions you can't answer."Peanuts seemed at first glance to be a simple strip. But it is complex and full of meaning. I read my first Peanuts strip in 1958 and they have only gotten better. The different characters seemed to be different parts of Charles Schultz. They are funny and they are thoughtful. This book is a perfect example of that.(Missing from the first edition was the good-bye from Mr. Schultz. I wrote a letter to Random House about this. They sent be, at no charge, a copy of the next edition.)So within the sadness there is laughter. The book is perfect Peanuts. And while his books will last forever, it is time to say goodbye. Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Linus.......Charles Schultz, how could we ever forget you?

17 of 18 people found the following review helpful. A great tribute to one of my favorite comic strips By Michael W. Howe Since I can remember, I was always fascinated by the Peanuts comic strip. I would watch and tape all the TV sepcials I could find, and check out all the books from the elementary school library (the shelving code was 741.5 Sch), even decorate my bedroon door with drawings of Good Ol' Charlie Brown. Sadly, Charles Schulz passed away a week after I turned 20, and it was sad that morning to read the final Sunday strip and find that their creator had died just hours before. In this chronicle, from 1-1-99 up to 2-13-00, we see the escapades of all the characters. Most notable was the direction that Schulz was taking with Linus and Lucy's little brother Rerun. If you read these strips, you can see the potential for development of Rerun that would have come. And like many, there was the question if Charlie Brown would ever kick the football, and much more. However, the fact that Schulz never revealed this, gives our imagination a chance to speculate. Some notable articles include Charlie Brown attending a dance class with a little girl named Emily, that Schulz introduced about 2-4 years ago. There is even a funny little weekday strip where Sally tries to write to Harry Potter. There are plenty of other intersting topics the gang covers, but I won't go into detail here. Believe me, this is a great way to relax: kick back and read Peanuts 2000.

They are very clever and include some that are simply "tear-jerkingly" (I'm not kidding) funny. The cookbook master, Amelia Sanders open with the 5 guidelines to good eating habits and then jumps into the delicious recipe collection. The very first recipe hooked me immediately Sweet Potato and Sausage Hash. This was the beginning of the 10 recipe Energizing Breakfast section. Another early morning grabber was her Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie. Her next step is directly into the 10 Filling Main Courses. Some of my favorites are Pork Burrito Bowl, Black Beans and Chicken Nachos and Braised Shepherd's Pie. The 10 Enticing Deserts included Peach Rosemary Crisp and Soaked Chewy Cookie. Her 10 Soups, Salad and Sides section includes Beef and Barley Stew and Cheesy Potato Salad. She closes out with Healthy and Nutritious Drinks like Chocolate and Banana Protein Smoothie and Chai Tea Latte. Your family and friends will delight in these unique tasty and super healthy meals.Recommended.

The nutritional guidelines 'chapter' is less than one page, and contains only couple of very broad tips. The recipes themselves don't look so bad, haven't tried them yet, but I have two issues with them. First, the author provides zero supporting information regarding the nutritional content of these recipes. Essentially it's just a plain cookbook. I have a hard time believing (or frankly, understanding) how these recipes contribute to a balanced 'micronutrient' diet that this book advertises, but fails to explain. Secondly, she omits certain details that would be either a.) crucial, like exactly how much salt goes into brownies (anyone who has ever baked knows that this is a nigh-heretical crime), or how many servings a recipe can make. Overall, it's a fair collection of recipes, but the title and premise are misleading at the best.

I will say they are definitely brain busting! I tried out some and they were definitely a challenge. This would make a great gift for any child who likes puzzles or just working with their hands! It is a small set that you could keep inside the cardboard box or just put in a ziploc bag. It says for ages 6 and up which would be a good starting point for some, otherwise the puzzles are really for any age (older than 6 of course.)I received this set to review in exchange for sharing my honest opinion.

About the Author Barış Çakır graduated in medicine from Çukurova University, Turkey and joined Kartal Training and Research Hospital as a Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery resident in 1999. He subsequently continued his work on microsurgery, performing over 500 microsurgical operations during training. He became a Plastic Surgery specialist in December 2004, and developed an interest in sculpture and art history with the aim of achieving more successful results in plastic surgery. He studied Fine Art Sculpture at Suleyman Demirel University and continued this education in the Fine Arts and Sculpture at İnonu University, Malatya. He worked with Michael Esson regarding model and pattern studies. Dr. Çakır worked at Istanbul Memorial Hospital between 2007 and 2010, when he entered practice as a private surgeon in his office at Fulya Terrace, Istanbul. Rhinoplasty accounts for almost 90% of his surgical practice.

Mostly unexpurgated, totally unique, and completely fascinating memoir By Wulfstan "Sully" Sullivan is a honest to goodness Disney Legend, with a window on Main Street, etc. Sully started working in Disneyland in 1955 ripping tickets the the Jungle Cruise, and ended up forty year later as Vice President of the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World.Bob McLain of Theme Park Press tried to get Sully to write his memoirs, but Sully just wasn't interested- then Bob got Jim Korkis, the Disney Historian extraordinaire to interview Sully and turn those interviews into this interesting book. Kudos to Jim, it looks like it was a fun but really tough job.The result is mostly unexpurgated, somewhat rambling, totally unique, fascinating- and a total "must get" for any one into Disney history or trivia. You don't get too many off the cuff and unofficial memoirs from those who actually worked with Walt at Disneyland.Sully also worked on the 1906 Winter Olympics, the 1964 Worlds fair, Epcot (from the very start), Disney Paris, and several Disney films. His reminiscences and anecdotes about these- and about the people he worked with, are personal and from the heart. Lots of great stuff about the Jungle Cruise.Sully even "rescued" Walt from a over-zealous security flack who had found 'some guy who thinks he's Walt Disney!"As I guess many know by now, I am a sucker for any Disney history or trivia book, and I have found many of the stories repeat; but not so here. These are original and unique.At the end there is a unexpected and unique interview with Lillian Disney, Diane Disney Miller & Jennifer Miller, which had been lost for decades. Ever wonder what Walt would think of the path Disneyland took after his death? Read what Lillian said about what her husband would think.

By Jerry Edwards I admit that I had given up on seeing any book about Disney Legend Sully's career with the Disney Company. I had heard that he wasn't interested in writing a book about his experiences, so I'm very grateful that Bob McLain of Theme Park Press found a way around Sully writing his own book. Bob definitely had a stroke of genius when he decided to have Disney Historian Jim Korkis to put together a book from interviews with Sully by Jim Korkis and Seth Kubersky. I loved Sully's sharing his memories in his own "just talking" style. I also loved how well Jim Korkis worked the Disney historical background around Sully's memories. I found the contents to be fun and informative. I especially enjoyed Sully's memories of the times he shared with Walt Disney.

Weak presentation of the story of a true legend By Dave Nat Sullivan was a key part of the early years of Disney Parks, sadly this book does not tell his story well. It's rambling, disorganized, self-contradictory, and quite short. It belies its genesis as a collection of bits from various interviews, and does not hold together as a whole. A frustrating read.

I know it is going to be an excellent read. I have read previous works of this author and find his writing to be delightful and his story telling skills, superb! Am I biased? Heck yes, he's my uncle-but that does not change the fact that this guy is a seriously talented yarn spinner and if you appreciate good stories and clean humor that is actually funny, you're gonna like this book!

For years his songwriting genius could be expressed only in the ephemeral world of show business, as his brilliance as a composer of large-scale works went unrecognized by highbrow music critics. When he resolved this quandary with his opera Porgy and Bess, the critics were unable to understand or validate it. Decades would pass before this, his most ambitious composition, was universally regarded as one of music's lasting treasures and before his stature as a great composer became secure. By brat Being and avid colorist that started this past summer, and I fell into hook line and sinker; I have collected a variety of coloring books, different types of mediums (pencils, pens, markers) ways to keep them all organized. I am learning my style, new techniques and what I enjoy coloring; which at the moment is pretty much most anything, although some of the finer detail areas have to wait for days my wrists or eyes aren't bothering me; and having a magnifying glass also helps too. There is such a wide variety of coloring books out there for adults; if you are looking for something to help de-stress, to help cope maybe with different medical issues you maybe facing or whatever, don't be afraid, just jump on it there and give it a shot; I am sure you will find something that will suit your fancy and they even have coloring books for men too. A lot of these artists have GREAT talent, and it surely shows when you flip through these pages. So, what are you waiting for? Pick up a coloring pencil, kick up your feet, sit back and relax and color yourself a great picture!!!

A more accurate title might be "words you never dreamed existed in any language, but wish you knew about." A "chingdogue" is a stupid, but not completely useless invention, which is a terrific word you might not need all the time. There are evocative words like, "mannuaasanai," the smell of wet earth after the first rain of the season (Tamil) or "cafune," affectionately running your fingers through your lover's hair (Portuguese).Some words really are useful. "Zeg" is the Georgian word for "day after tomorrow." Nice and punchy. "Tartle," is the moment when you realize you're about to introduce a person whose name you can't remember, another favorite. I did that to my mother once and I know how bad if feels.It's a highly entertaining, quick read and you're sure to find words you'll love and learn to use. For instance, I've had a prominent seanas all my life and never knew what to call it.Read on for many more.
